JattWorld.com is a website that runs under The JattWorld Project that was started on Feb 14th 2003. It is an online resource about the History and Heritage of the Jatt people.

Who are Jatts?

Jatts are a group of Independent Tribes found in Northwest India and Pakistan who maintain one of the oldest surviving tribal identities in the World and are distinctively identified by mankind's oldest profession - Agriculture. These Independent Tribes are called Clans (or Gots) and each of these Clans are bonded together by either a Common Ancestor or a Common Founder. Most of these Clans that are found in Punjab are ascribed a Scythian Origin. The Punjabi Jatts are strong Individualists, Hardworking by nature and are distinctively known for their Life Affirmative Celebrating and simpleminded personality. The Jatts gave rise to several Great Spiritual Mystics, Warriors, Intellectuals, Statesmen and are among the most dominant Tribes of Indian North and West Punjab, Pakistan.

What is JattWorld.com about?

JattWorld.com was started on Feb 14th, 2003 as The JattWorld Project and ever since has grown into a Mega Database of the Jatt Community. It is internet's largest (and the only) website that is specifically focused on the Jatt People. As one senior member once put it - JattWorld.com is the online version of a Punjabi Pind and all its members are one big family. Plainly speaking, JattWorld.com provides a common platform to people who are interested in the exploration, study and preservation of the Jatt History. And in doing so, it provides its members a bit of social networking and exchange of views. Over the years, members on the JattWorld Forum have created a vast data store of information where they have touched upon almost every aspect of the Jatt Culture and Heritage.

Where is the old JattWorld.com website?

In January 2011, the old JattWorld.com site that we have been running since 2003 was closed for ever. The database has been saved and for the next couple of years, The JattWorld Project will concentrate to archive good content from the old JattWorld website into this new JattWorld website and will filter out the non-essential content that the old website contained. The content is so huge that it will take a couple of years to archive the entire content.

Is this website about a specific religion?

Yes and No. Yes because majority of our members come from the Jatt Sikh background. So you will find that the focus of discussions is around Sikhism. However, many of our members come from Hindu and Muslim backgrounds too and considering that Jatts, as an entire community, follow several different religions - so focus on any specific religion is not a criteria or an official rule for this website.

Why did you put the Sikh Khanda symbol on the JattWorld website logo?

Stats prove that 11 out of 12 Sikh Warrior Misls that saved Sikhism from extinction during the great times of persecution - were either founded by Jatts or were leaded and followed by the Jatt Sikh Ancestors. Since that constitutes a significant part of Jatt History and this website is dedicated to Jatt Heritage, so why not?
